GUSTAVE NEW Description Gustave is a portable, self-powered luminaire, specially designed for tabletop lighting applications and other related uses as supplementary lighting. Gustave’s compact size encloses a perfect mix of the most innovative optical and light technology and a disruptive engineering, developed in the service of a discretionary purpose of Flos for this project: to create the first portable luminaire on the market with circular design awareness, ecological and honestly conceived against obsolescence. Optical System Gustave is the first luminaire to incorporate a system of exclusive, patented by Flos, asymmetrical emission lenses, arranged in revolution and spanning 360º around the position of the lamp. This pioneering innovation makes it possible to achieve a large illuminated surface in relation to the central point of the light source. The expanse and intensity of the light distribution has been designed to optimize the light obtained in archetypal applications for tables hosting 2 to 4 guests. Thus, with Gustave, the ratio between the surface occupied by the lamp and the area illuminated by it is improved to the maximum. Power Supply: Batteries Gustave uses lithium-ion cell batteries that are replaceable and rechargeable, either via a USB cable for the Residential version, or externally by using dedicated chargers for the Hospitality version. This battery format is standard and easy to purchase from retail distributors of such products. This concept, a sort of upgrade of the classic flashlight batteries, puts an end to the link between battery life and lamp obsolescence. When the batteries reach the end of their cycle, they are simply replaced with new ones and Gustave continues to function as on the first day. In addition, in the Hospitality version for professionals, a remarkable functional improvement is achieved thanks to its battery philosophy. Unlike its alternatives, when Gustave runs out of power, it can quickly continue to operate: just easily replace the batteries with charged ones and it will be operational again. On top of that, Gustave allows hotels and restaurants to avoid the cost of multiplying the units needed to have lighting throughout the service hours. Just having one Gustave per desired spot and the relevant sets of batteries and chargers to provide them with power during opening hours will be enough. Autonomy: Management and Functionality When Gustave’s charge drops below 20%, its red LED indicator (located at the bottom of the product head) lights. When it drops below 10%, in addition to the red indicator, the lamp is forced to dim the maximum intensity to 25%. When it reaches 0%, the luminaire automatically switches off. In the Hospitality version, the autonomy of the product is 12h at 100%, 24h at 50% and 48h at 25%. Charging time will depend on the external charger model and its characteristics. In the Residential version, the product autonomy is 6h at 100%, 10h at 50% and 18h at 25%. Approximate charging time is 5 to 6 hours. During charging, the LED indicator will remain yellow. When it reaches full charge, it changes to green. It is recommended to charge the product while it is turned off. Control System Gustave is switched on, off and dimmed via a capacitive button located at the base of the luminaire head. In the Residential version, product dimming is sequential from 0-100% and vice versa. It has last position memory and an indicator that flashes when the maximum or minimum intensity is reached. To facilitate uniformity between the Gustave Hospitality version units sharing a space, the light level is dimmed in 3 steps (25%, 50%, 100%). Accessories and Spare Parts As accessories, Gustave offers an external battery charger in the Hospitality version and a power adapter for the USB charging cable in the Residential version. Lithium-ion batteries are also offered as accessories and/or spare parts for both versions. The Residential version is sold with batteries included. The Hospitality version is sold without batteries and these must be purchased separately. If the lithium-ion batteries are purchased from a non-Flos distributor, it is important to ensure that they meet the dimensional, electrical and other requirements stated in the product instructions. Versorgung: Akkus Bei den Akkus von Gustav handelt es sich um austauschbare Lithium-IonenBatterien, wiederaufladbar sowohl über ein USB-Kabel (Ausführung Residential für den Wohnbedarf) als auch extern mit speziellen Ladegeräten (Ausführung Hospitality für das Hotel- und Gastgewerbe). Diese Akkus sind standardisiert und im Einzelfachhandel erhältlich. Dieses Konzept ist eine Aktualisierung der Batterien der klassischen Taschenlampen und vermeidet die Obsoleszenz der Leuchte beim Ende der Lebensdauer des Akkus. Beim Ende seiner Lebensdauer wird er einfach ersetzt und Gustave funktioniert weiterhin wie am ersten Tag. Darüber hinaus wird bei der professionellen Hospitality-Ausführung dank dieser Batteriephilosophie eine bemerkenswerte Funktionsverbesserung erzielt. Im Gegensatz zu seinen Alternativen ist Gustave bei Stromausfall weiterhin betriebsfähig, da seine Akkus durch geladene ersetzt werden können.
